How can I access the teaching plan? What are the prerequisite courses?

You can access the 4-year curriculum and detailed content of all courses of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Mechanical Engineering from the Bologna page of the department linked below.

Some courses in the curriculum are prerequisite, meaning that other courses must be successfully completed before the course can be taken. Prerequisite courses and related courses can be found in the teaching plan on the Bologna page.

 

What are make-up and resit exams?

The make-up exam is held for the mid-semester exam. If two exams are held during the semester, the student can take the make-up exam for only one of them. Whether a student will be allowed to take a make-up exam for a course and how the make-up exams will be conducted are determined according to the principles determined by the Senate. In order to take the make-up exam, students must apply to the department within three days from the date of the exam with their petition, clearly stating and documenting their valid excuses. Issues regarding the make-up exam can be found in the "Acceptance of Excuses for YTU Mid-Semester Exams and Principles of Conducting Make-up Exams" in the legislation section of the YTU student affairs page.

In order to take the make-up exam; It is mandatory to register for the relevant courses in the academic year in which the exam will be held and to meet the requirements for taking the final exam of these courses. Students who cannot take the make-up exams are not given the right to take make-up exams for this exam. Students can take the make-up exam from the courses they have conditionally passed or failed (except F0). The grade received in the make-up exam replaces the final exam grade of that course.

 

What are the entrance requirements for the graduation exam?

(3) The principles regarding the graduation exam are as follows:

a) In order to take the graduation exam, it is mandatory to meet the requirements for taking the final exam of the relevant course. Students who cannot take the graduation exams are not given the right to take an excuse exam. Students who have at most two courses left until graduation; After the make-up exam and within the period specified in the academic calendar, a graduation exam is held for the failed courses. Students who cannot graduate because their GPA is not 2.00 can take the graduation exam in a maximum of two conditionally successful (DC) courses of their choice. It is mandatory to get at least a CC grade in order to be successful in the graduation exam. The grade received in the exam replaces the success grade of that course. Graduation exam application dates are stated in the academic calendar announced on the YTU student affairs page.

 

Which courses are offered in English? How many English lessons should I take in total?

Courses offered in English are stated in the course schedule announced on the department website at the beginning of each semester. As a graduation requirement, each student must take English courses at least 30% of the total credits in the education plan. Information about the English course credits students have received and are required to take can also be followed by the student through the automation system.

 

What are the courses that must be taken to obtain the title of offshore shift engineer?

What should I do when the exams of two different courses overlap?

If there is a conflict in the exam schedule of the double major program and the major program; The student first takes the exam for the course(s) in the major program. One can take the exam of the course(s) in the double major program by applying for a make-up exam with the "Make-up Exam Petition".

 

How are Projects and Dissertations dues?

Projects and dissertations are prepared in accordance with the Thesis template in the forms section of the department website. The deadline for submission of projects and theses is announced on the department website. At the end of the semester, after the approval of the advisor faculty member, it is delivered to the department together with the thesis submission form in the forms section of the department website. In research projects and design projects, the work is delivered only to the advisor faculty member. For graduation theses, a copy of the study is delivered to the advisor and the department.

 

How can I take courses in summer?

Announcement of the courses offered in the summer school and registration dates are announced in the "Academic Calendar" published on the YTU student affairs page. Students apply to the department with a petition to enroll in summer school courses offered in their own department or other YTU departments.

YTU students can take courses from the Summer School programs of another Higher Education Institution for courses not offered in the Summer School at our university, with the approval of the department and the decision of the relevant Board of Directors. In order to take courses from other institutions, the student must apply to the pre-registration department and have his/her request to take courses approved. The passing grade for a course taken from another Higher Education Institution is the passing grade specified in the "YTU Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations" and the "YTU Graduate Education and Examination Regulations".

In matters related to summer school, students are subject to the "YTU Summer School Directive" in the legislation section of the YTU student affairs page.

 

How can I apply for and submit an internship?

Students apply to the department online before completing their internships, which are included in the curriculum. If the company where the internship will be performed is not on the list of recognized companies, you must fill out the introduction form for the internship place and apply online along with other documents at least 14 days before the internship begins. When the student completes his internship, he submits the "Internship Registry Form" and "Internship Notebook" to the Department Head within 1 (one) month from the completion of the internship. Internship notebooks not submitted within this period will not be accepted. After delivery, internship notebooks are examined by the relevant internship commissions. If deemed necessary, students may be asked to correct their internship notebooks, or internship notebooks that are deemed inappropriate may be rejected. When and how to apply for Erasmus?

Within the scope of the ERASMUS student exchange program, students can complete part of their education period at many foreign universities with which YTU Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department has bilateral agreements. The dates for the Erasmus program are announced every year by the YTU International Relations Coordinatorship and published in the Erasmus section of the department web page. What should I do to continue postgraduate education after I finish my undergraduate education?

After students successfully graduate from the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department, they can continue their education with the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering master's program. In order to enroll in the YTU Institute of Science, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering master's program, the student's undergraduate graduation grade point average must be at least 2.5/4.0. In addition, students are required to have taken the ALES exam and a foreign language exam. Application dates are announced every year in the postgraduate academic calendar on the YTU Institute of Science and Technology website. Postgraduate education registration and admission conditions are specified in the YTU Graduate Education Regulations.
